THE TOWNLAND OF LISBANOE
The townland of Lisbanoe is in the parish of Lisnadill in Armagh County. It
is labelled number 29 on the map.
Paterson (Armachiana, Vol. 16, p.25) notes:
…Rath, lis, etc. denote ringed enclosures [‘rath’ or ‘fort’] and in their
various forms are common throughout the county…
The Environment and Heritage Service Sites and Monuments Record (2002) notes the following in this townland:

CONDITION: some remains
The monument has the appearance of 2 roughly circular raised platform s, 1 superimposed, almost concentrically on the other. The smaller platform is 72m N-S x 69.5m E-W & is defined by a steep scarp failing c.2m. A possible ramped entrance provides access from E. Around the base of the scarp is a wide berm forming the 2nd plafform. This measures 11Om N-S x 103m E-W & is surrounded by another scarp falling 1.8m to the base of a recut ditch 3.6m wide & 0.6m deep. The berm may be remains of a bank. See SM7 for details.
