A large, roughly circular enclosure, c.50m in diam. is described as a “Fort” on the 1835 OS 6″map. It is now incorporated into the garden of Maytone House & only a bank c. O.6m high & 3.7m wide, which curves around the S side of the garden, remains. Elsewhere the site has been levelled & there is no trace of a ditch. The monument was located on a gentle E-facing slope in quite woody countryside.

A very small circular “Fort” about 25m in diam. is shown on the 1835 OS 6″map. Only a “Site of Fort” is indicated on the 1863 edition and the last vestiges of the perimeter were removed some time before 1967. The site was positioned on the summit of Star Hill and commanded a good view S & E.
